Cutters 20 d Jets 6

Mackay was forced to dig deep for its fourth win of the season, with the desperate Jets throwing everything at the Cutters in a spirited second half performance.

The Cutters took a 14-0 lead in the half-time break, but it wasn’t until the 77th minute that the visitors had the match safely in their keep.

Ipswich was the first to score in the second half through a burrowing effort from halfback Ian Lacey in the 50th minute.

Keiron Lander’s conversion reduced the margin to eight points.

Although their execution was lacking, the Luke Walker-inspired Jets kept coming at the Cutters in an entertaining second half.

Mackay extinguished numerous attacking raids by the Jets, whose last throw of the dice ended in frustration with three minutes remaining when youngster Eric Alefosio spilt a bullet-like pass with the try-line wide open.
